The Avengers: Heroicly Hilarious

Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Thor’s brother from Asgard was looking for another recognition as king. This time, on Earth. With help of Chitauri army, Loki intended to open the inter dimensional gate with the Tesseract and he did.

Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) basically wanted to answer Loki’s call for war with The Avengers protocol. Gathering all the super heroes. But even a huge flying fortress was not enough for super heroes’ ego. They need a simple, humble, old fashion sacrifice from Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg).

And blood in Coulson’s Captain America trading cards pulled the Avengers together in one solid team. Lead by the Captain America (Chris Evans), the Avengers; Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), fought the Chitaurians in downtown Manhattan.

Nothing new really in this superheroes story aside from the number of the superheroes involved. Usually superhero gets all the attention to him/herself in one movie. Now they have to share it. And ingeniously, the share works heroic-ly hilarious.

Good watch, very entertaining. 🙂

Pasta Gio, The Warung Pasta

In the middle of suburb and quite neighbourhood of Sleman, Jogjakarta, there is this warung (rather small restaurant) Pasta Gio, specialize in pasta. Gio is the chef and the owner, very young as my sister told me he’s still on college. But nowadays, Gio has few sous chefs to help run the place.

The place is totally warung-like. Wood benches and plastic table cloths. But I like the Java-inspired architectural, pendopo style.

I was there several times, as they specialized in, the pasta was good. Should try the chef’s sauce and the alfredo for the pasta.

But last night, I decided to try other menu, which is Beef Medallion with green pasta, onion rings and salad.

Here it was.

Yummy! It was as good as it looked. The beef was tender and well done, the mushroom sauce was spot on, the salad was lightly savory, the onion rings were fresh and light as well, and surprisingly the green pasta was rich of olive oil and had red rawit chili slices on which kick the flavor even more. Overall, its worth the 59k price!

And for desert, I ordered their new menu, red velvet. (I guess, red velvet is the new black on desert :))

For only 20k, this red velvet exceed its price value. The strawberry cake layered with light cream truly brighten your palette after a fulfilling entree. 🙂

This is the one place you need to put on the must-visit-list when you’re in town.

Battleship: A Bummer

After an ultra-powered signal sent into the deep space towards a planet which is predicted having similarity with Earth, few years later, 5 unidentified objects from the outer space are detected about to enter our atmosphere. Having no anticipation at all, those objects hit Earth right around the Hawaiian coast where the military join forces combat training took place.

Fortunately, the ET had damaged their telecommunication device from a collision with a satellite before entering the atmosphere. Buying some times for the humans to defend the planet.

Destroyers, state of the art combat ships, are dealing with the ET army. One ship, which is commanded by Stone Hopper (Alexander Skarsgard), is destroyed without any survivors by the ET and leaving his brother, Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch), the next in command. With help from the Japanese army, lead by Nagata (Tadanobu Asano), they managed to survive the ET’s attack.

Up in the hill, Samantha (Brooklyn Decker), Alex’s fiance figured out how to stop the ET from invading the Earth. They need to destroy the hill where the satellites are going to be used by the ET to send signal back to their planet. And with help of the scientist, Dr Nogrady (Adam Godley), Sam established a communication with Alex, telling him to blow up the hill.

Since the last destroyer John Paul Jones was crushed, Alex fought the last ship of the ET with the legendary Missouri battleship, which is less sophisticated than a destroyer ship, with help of the veterans to run the battleship. The ET’s last ship was destroyed, back ups were being sent by Admiral Shane (Liam Neeson) and the hill was flatten.

After a high expectation wait, I was disappointed. The story was total fuzz and just did not add up. And the cameo, Rihanna, was just not suppose to be in any scene. She’s best stay on the stage, get a hold on her hat on the stage instead on the water while swimming for the life boat, and just sing!

Right from the opening scene, when the signal sent out into the deep space without any security and/or defense anticipation to the ET depiction, who’s very lame compare to all the weapon technology they’re suppose to have.

The savior of this movie is just the ‘Transformers’ effects, both the robot effect and the sound effect (according to W, at least). Real bummer, really.

Bandung 0 KM

With little one, at 0 KM.

To pick up, the less little one, and here they are.

With the one who has never lose the spirit and light (also love) <3

Was a tiring journey, sleepy weekend, but lots of fun! 😉

Itinerary Bandung, 28-29 January 2012

Stayed at POP Hotel Bandung on Jalan Peta
which is the budget hotel version of Harris. Not bad at all! Not so spacious but cozy. Located aside a new mall called Festival Citylink, I’d say the rate under $30 is reasonable. Breakfast is provided as quick bite, banana leave wrapped nasi uduk with spicy chicken and bean cake and hot tea/coffee.

Dinner at Bakso Malang Enggal on Jalan Burangrang
cheap and delicious meatballs and fried/pouched dumpling in clear soup. Self-serviced, pay as you take system I liked the most!

2nd breakfast at Eleven Seven Porridge at Jala Kebon Jati
which offers chicken, prawn, beef, pork and fish porridge. Unfortunately the chicken and fish, which is the highlight menu here, was out when we came 🙁 Selection of dim sum is the next option as we had prawn hakau, siomay, angsio and half portion of roast pork. It was okay, not as expected though.

Lunch at Radja Ketjil on Cihampelas Walk
we had our appetite fulled here! Yum yum and yum! The highlight menu should be the fried casava 😉

And the we get some snacks at Kartika Sari on Jalan Juanda a.k.a Dago

Feel Like The Real Pizzeria

This is my 2nd attempt trying this place, Nanamia Pizzeria in Gejayan district, Jogjakarta. My first attempt was quite disappointing due to the late service although the food was good.

Here were the first attempt..

Yes! We ordered bunch!
We had Mozzarella Fritter, Capricciosa, Spaghetti Bolognese and Lasagna. They were yuummm!!
Just too bad at that time, the service took too long hence the mood was off.

But today, actually couple days ago, I decided to give it another shot. Now, with anticipation, I ate pancakes before I went here.
And surprisingly, the service is good. Nice, warm and right on time! Like It!!

This time, I ordered (again) the Mozzarella Fritter, Fettuccine Alfredo (with mushroom, originally it came with green peas) and some chillax-ing afternoon beer, Heineken.

Was good. Was full. And happy 🙂 Definitely will coming here again soon, on a date! ;))

Highlight is Not Always a Delight

Heard about this place a lot. Some sort of happening in Jogja, a place to be to hang out as youngsters in Jogja. Blandhongan Coffeeshop (warkop: warung kopi), which has a branch called Semesta Coffeeshop.

And so, today, this heated afternoon, I decided to pay it a visit. As I came in, the place was not as crowded as I expected, I suppose due to the wrong timing of mine (youngsters don’t hang out in the middle of the day, granny :P). Found myself a seat, which is not so clean. Ashes’re everywhere, dusty and hot humid.

After waited for few minutes, I figured the place was self serving. And so I ordered in the cashier, a cup of coffee (Kopi Cangkir) for only Rp 3.500. Since the cashier guy asked me, is that it?, which made me feel a bit ‘cheap’, then I ordered a fried mushroom for Rp 8.500, for a total of Rp 12.000. It is indeed cheap but I feel like being robbed because actually I have another plan for lunch.

And so, here they are..

The Kopi Cangkir.
And it shocked me. So clumsy. I did pity the classic cup. 😐

Fried Mushroom.
A bit soggy, taste poorly.

Well, I guess this conclude that a highlight does not necessarilly a delight.
At least in my humble opinion..
