Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Thor’s brother from Asgard was looking for another recognition as king. This time, on Earth. With help of Chitauri army, Loki intended to open the inter dimensional gate with the Tesseract and he did.

Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) basically wanted to answer Loki’s call for war with The Avengers protocol. Gathering all the super heroes. But even a huge flying fortress was not enough for super heroes’ ego. They need a simple, humble, old fashion sacrifice from Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg).

And blood in Coulson’s Captain America trading cards pulled the Avengers together in one solid team. Lead by the Captain America (Chris Evans), the Avengers; Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), fought the Chitaurians in downtown Manhattan.

Nothing new really in this superheroes story aside from the number of the superheroes involved. Usually superhero gets all the attention to him/herself in one movie. Now they have to share it. And ingeniously, the share works heroic-ly hilarious.

Good watch, very entertaining.

The place is totally warung-like. Wood benches and plastic table cloths. But I like the Java-inspired architectural, pendopo style.

I was there several times, as they specialized in, the pasta was good. Should try the chef’s sauce and the alfredo for the pasta.

But last night, I decided to try other menu, which is Beef Medallion with green pasta, onion rings and salad.

Here it was.

Yummy! It was as good as it looked. The beef was tender and well done, the mushroom sauce was spot on, the salad was lightly savory, the onion rings were fresh and light as well, and surprisingly the green pasta was rich of olive oil and had red rawit chili slices on which kick the flavor even more. Overall, its worth the 59k price!

And for desert, I ordered their new menu, red velvet. (I guess, red velvet is the new black on desert )

For only 20k, this red velvet exceed its price value. The strawberry cake layered with light cream truly brighten your palette after a fulfilling entree.

This is the one place you need to put on the must-visit-list when you’re in town.

Tadi malam, dalam diskusi santai dengan Irshad Manji, yang baru merilis buku terbarunya: Allah, Liberty and Love, The Courage to Reconcile Faith and Freedom, yang diadakan di LKIS (Lembaga Kajian Islam dan Sosial) Yogyakarta.

Dimulai tepat jam 19.00. Saya datang 19.05.

Manji duduk santai ditemani penerjemah dan moderator. Sedikit memberikan gambaran tentang dirinya, sebelum menerima pertanyaan dari peserta diskusi.

Inti pertanyaan pertama tepat mengenai subtitle buku barunya, how to reconcile faith and freedom? Dan Manji mengingatkan kita semua untuk tetap rendah hati dengan ayat Al Qur’an 3:7. Sebagaimanapun kita berpikir kita benar, hanya Allah yang memliki kebenaran sejati dan seutuhnya.
Seru kan?

Pertanyaan kedua dan ketiga ditanyakan.

Belum terjawab, datanglah gerombolan preman berjubah atas nama Majelis Mujahiddin Indonesia mendobrak pagar besi yang terkunci. Saya tahu pasti terkunci, lha wong saya mau masuk bukan lewat pagar besi itu, melainkan lewat pintu ruang tamu.

Piring-piring isi pisang goreng, kacang rebus, ketela goreng berhamburan pecah ditendang. Pot beterbangan menabrak jendela kaca, beberapa pecah.

Teriakan intimidasi untuk menghancurkan Manji membahana. Manji dipagar betis oleh sejumlah teman-teman perempuan di tengah, agar selamat dari tangan-tangan preman berjubah.

Beberapa teman mencoba komunikasi dengan para preman berhasil memar dan luka lecet karena didorong dan diadu dengan pangkal parang. Beberapa perempuan juga merasakan tamparan. Bahkan jilbab tidak dapat menyelamatkan.

Dari komando seseorang berjubah gelap (yang saya lihat), masa preman kemudian keluar, masih mengepung sampai polisi datang.

Polisi datang kemudian aman? Oh tentu tidak.
Dian Paramita minta perlindungan, eh dipersalahkan karena perijinan bla bla bla. Monas, 1 Juni 2008 terulang kembali.

Gagal. Total. Indonesia tidak aman.
Negara ini sudah dikangkangi oleh preman berjubah.

Sebenarnya, seharusnya saya sudah paham semenjak 1 Juni 2008, negara ini memang sudah gagal sebagai negara demokrasi. Manji was lucky as she’s foreigner. Coba kalau dia lokal, mungkin tidak akan seberuntung itu.

Apapun yang ditulis Manji atau siapapun dalam media apapun, tidak seharusnya menjadi pembenaran bagi pihak yang berseberangan untuk mengintimidasi dan melakukan tindak kekerasan dengan dasar alasan apapun. Tapi tidak di Indonesia, negara yang dikangkang preman berjubah.

I would be one of the un-common, since I hardly would call my mom when I get into a trouble. But the funny thing is, I always squeal the word ‘ibu’ when I’m in shock or facing a trouble without referring to anybody. I guess, subconsciously, I am common after all

Anyhow, mommy’s birthday today (well actually yesterday, since its already past midnight), and sadly I was late to greet her birthday wishes. Crap!

Fortunately, the ET had damaged their telecommunication device from a collision with a satellite before entering the atmosphere. Buying some times for the humans to defend the planet.

Destroyers, state of the art combat ships, are dealing with the ET army. One ship, which is commanded by Stone Hopper (Alexander Skarsgard), is destroyed without any survivors by the ET and leaving his brother, Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch), the next in command. With help from the Japanese army, lead by Nagata (Tadanobu Asano), they managed to survive the ET’s attack.

Up in the hill, Samantha (Brooklyn Decker), Alex’s fiance figured out how to stop the ET from invading the Earth. They need to destroy the hill where the satellites are going to be used by the ET to send signal back to their planet. And with help of the scientist, Dr Nogrady (Adam Godley), Sam established a communication with Alex, telling him to blow up the hill.

Since the last destroyer John Paul Jones was crushed, Alex fought the last ship of the ET with the legendary Missouri battleship, which is less sophisticated than a destroyer ship, with help of the veterans to run the battleship. The ET’s last ship was destroyed, back ups were being sent by Admiral Shane (Liam Neeson) and the hill was flatten.

After a high expectation wait, I was disappointed. The story was total fuzz and just did not add up. And the cameo, Rihanna, was just not suppose to be in any scene. She’s best stay on the stage, get a hold on her hat on the stage instead on the water while swimming for the life boat, and just sing!

Right from the opening scene, when the signal sent out into the deep space without any security and/or defense anticipation to the ET depiction, who’s very lame compare to all the weapon technology they’re suppose to have.

The savior of this movie is just the ‘Transformers’ effects, both the robot effect and the sound effect (according to W, at least). Real bummer, really.

I am now in my late 20s, and still I am slacking on self discipline. Like literally shame on me!

The three of the dogs were temporarily put in Meces Shelter, on Kaliurang area, Jogjakarta. And as soon as I found the time, I went there to pick Acho up, can only afford to adopt one since we always have one dog back at home. And so, here we were..

Acho is one happy dog. I was sooo happy to pick him up.
The next day, when I met my uncle, he told me that he just lost his dog named Dolly to bunch of irresponsible people who would want to have Dolly butchered. And immediately I remembered Aston.

So, once again I went to the shelter and pick Aston up. Here he is.

And during the adoption I met these amazing people, who dedicated their lives to save strayed/abandoned animals. Mas Jonathan (@tidvrberjalan) and Mbak Nong (@Nongki__). They are the ones who saved this 3A from Magelang. The owner was neglecting the mother and these three dogs, resulting malnutrition. During the rescue, 3A was in bad shape as Mas Jo told me. The three of them needed one full month of recovery before they can be declared healthy and got their first vaccine. Only after, Mas Jo then spreading the words for them to adopt.

I was stunned.

I often depicting myself as an idealist, one with vision not only for my personal life but for my country and nation. But compare to Mas Jo and Mbak Nong, I am simply nothing. They speak out loud through their actions. And they saved so many lives already. Within their hearts, under all of that tattoos (which scaring my little sister, Wetti @wettiaw, btw), they have unconditional love, manifests in such deep care and share for strayed animals.

I told my friend back from high school, when we used to declare ourselves as the ‘pecinta alam’, who the hell we have saved all these times but ourselves? Shame on us!

On twitter (at least) now, so many people campaign to adopt animals rather than buy one in pet shops, including Tommy Lee, who is recently made the news not to buy dogs in pet shops. And I can’t be more agree with the statement. So many shelters, so many strayed animals out there. It is time to quit thinking and preaching about being harmonious with the nature. Be harmonious! Share and care for all beings within our surroundings!

The gas price was planned to be increased per April 1st, 2012 to cut back the government fuel budget. But the plan was cancelled by the People Rep, under the mass pressure in chaotic demonstration from various elements. As the result, the price of the non-subsidiary fuel is the one that’s going up, over a dollar per liter. And now, the issue, instead of solved, is only getting delayed and begetting other issues.

Everybody is using the subsidiary fuel, no matter what the vehicle is. Even Toyota Alphard, the icon of the haves, now is found everywhere buying the subsidiary fuel. Is not that sad or what?

But who’s to blame?
The government and its silly president?
The previous regime?
The ridiculous parties and their act of corruptions?

I say, SCREW THEM!

‘We are as strong as our weakest link.’, that’s what they say, right? And I can’t be more agree with it. We (as a nation) are as strong as ourselves (as individual). Change starts from ourselves.

I have no option to have my budget tighten, since there’s no increase in my salary, yet the fuel price is increasing. And I don’t mind, since that is the change I can do, really DO. Tighten my budget and do as my consciousness tells me to do, not to buy something that is not meant for me to buy, subsidiary fuel.

I am not even close being one of the haves. But I am not one of those who deserve subsidiary fuel also, since many others are still in the need of it. I have my income just enough to be responsible for my own needs and share a little bit to my neighbourhood. So, consciously, I choose the non-subsidiary fuel, even though I have to cut back in other posts. That the change I can afford. And in my opinion, that’s the least I can do to educate myself to be a better person, as a citizen and as a human.

Yes, today is second day of the Çaka year 1934, as we already start the year with whole silence in Nyepi day, just yesterday.

Nyepi, in literal, means silence. So in this particular day, we bring ourselves, silence with four methods. The first one is amati geni, no fire and all of its descendants. Second method is amati karya, no work. Then we have amati lelungan, no traveling, and the last one is amati lelanguan, no fun.

More or less, the methods are supposedly bring silence to ourselves so we have an opportunity to go within, find the true purpose of our lives. That methods, most likely would succeed in bringing us the silence outside? How about the noise inside?

I remember how I would spend my day in Nyepi day, years ago. Electricity off, fasting undergo, and communication is minimized. So, I’d have books to be with the whole day, reading it and/or fell asleep with it

Nowadays, my preferences of reading, mostly are on my Ipad, both online and offline. Now, when electricity is supposedly off, how would I spend my Nyepi day? That was my question yesterday, and somehow I figured that gadgets would be my biggest challenge on Nyepi day, and I was right.

I love my gadgets. Most of my activities are done using them. A day without my gadgets, to silence my head, that is my pact for my Nyepi day this year. Was a real challenge for me
